How to Make Chocolate Idli Cake Batter:

Ingredients:

1/2 cup Wheat flour  (or All purpose flour )
1/2 cup Rava   (Sooji / Rava / Semolina)
1 cup Sugar
1/2 tsp Baking powder
1 tsp Cardamom powder
2 tbsp Cocoa powder
2 tbsp to 3 tbsp Curd
1/2 cup Milk (or water i prefered to make with milk only)
Water if required to make batter
Oil – 1 tsp
1 tbsp vanilla essence (option)
Sprinkles as needed (option)
Chocolate sauce for serving (option)

Preparation:

Take yogurt, sugar in a bowl and whisk till creamy and sugar is melted.Now add in oil and vanilla,cardamom powder, baking powder and whisk well.Add in sooji, cocoa and mix well. Set aside for 5 mins.Now add in water/milk and mix well,little by little without forming lumps to make batter.Add in baking soda and mix well.Add in flour and fold gently.The batter has to be in idli batter consistency

Method:

Using steamer:

Grease idli mould with oil. Pour idli batter in the holes. Place in a steamer, and cook for 15-20 minutes. Insert a toothpick to check whether the cake is done.Remove from heat. Leave to cool down slightly. Open steamer, and remove idli from the moulds. Repeat with the rest of the batter.Serve with Chocolate sauce and Sprinkles.

Using rice cooker: 

Grease idli mould with oil. Pour idli batter in the holes.Pour some water(approximately 2 cups) in rice cooker squeeze 2 to 3 drops of lime juice.Place the idli moulds in rice cooker,Cook for 20 minutes .Insert a toothpick to check whether the cake is done.and remove outside.Serve with Chocolate sauce and Sprinkles.

Using Microwave:

Apply oil on the microwave idli container and pour idli batter into the moulds.Set the microwave for 3 minutes on medium power.When the idlis are prepared, with a help of a knife/Spoon,remove them from the microwave idli container .Insert a toothpick to check whether the cake is done.and transfer in a serving bowl.Serve with Chocolate sauce and Sprinkles.

Warm pan and place one ladleful of batter(same batter) and spread dosa.Cook dosa with little butter on it and transfer into serving plate.
